Mecha Sonic are robots inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog, created by Dr. Eggman. They are distinct from the well-known Metal Sonic. There have been several Mecha Sonic models in various games in the series. Although they are universally known as Mecha Sonic in the original Japanese material, many of these models were not initially named in the English language. Because the English-language manuals for the Master System and Game Gear for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (8-bit) refer to Mecha Sonic as Silver Sonic, fans decided to use this name for other models in the series, primarily for Mecha Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 due to its silver color.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (8-bit)
Mecha Sonic is the boss of Scrambled Egg Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Game Gear and Master System. He is the oldest Sonic robot to appear.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (16-bit)
One of the most famous Mecha Sonic models is the one from the Death Egg Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Mega Drive. This version has been adapted into other media several times; in the Archie Comics, it is known as Silver Sonic.

Sonic & Knuckles

A new Mecha Sonic design appears as a boss several times during the Sky Sanctuary Zone in Sonic & Knuckles. Against Sonic, he pilots the Egg Mobile twice and once in a melee battle. He is the final boss in the Knuckles the Echidna story, where he uses the power of the Master Emerald to transform into Super Mecha Sonic and thus face Knuckles.

Sonic the Fighters
A Mecha Sonic model, known as Mecha Sonic Model No. 29, appears briefly in the opening cutscene of Sonic the Fighters. Unlike most versions of Mecha Sonic, this Mecha Sonic has the ability to transform into a rocket. He can be seen outside the Death Egg II before transforming into a rocket and flying away.

Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure
A model of Mecha Sonic, based on a version previously seen in the Death Egg Zone, appears as the boss of the Aerobase Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure.

Sonic Adventure
An unidentified Sonic robot can be seen, deactivated, in a stasis tube in the Final Egg Base in Sonic Adventure. Although unnamed, the robot bears some resemblance to the Mecha Sonic seen in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. This design is used as the basis for Silver Sonic II in Archie Comics.

Sonic Mania
In Sonic Mania, small copies of Mecha Sonic, identical to those seen in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (8-bit), appear in the boss battle against Metal Sonic, assisting him.

In the battle, they must be collided with when they perform a Spin Dash. This will cause them to collide with Metal Sonic and damage him. This must be repeated approximately four times to advance to the next phase of the battle.

Mecha Sonic is the name given to the robotic version of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Robotnik managed to have Sonic captured by Nack the Weasel. He then decided to roboticize him and took control of Sonic. 'Mecha Sonic,' as he was called, was sent to Knothole, where he managed to defeat Bunnie Rabbot and Knuckles, and continued to wreak havoc on the town until the Freedom Fighters were left with only one option. In the Mecha Madness Super Special, Knuckles roboticized himself, using a neural overrider to retain his willpower. Mecha Sonic and Mecha Knuckles faced a stalemate until both were sent spiraling toward Robotropolis, where their impact caused a nuclear explosion, severely damaging Mecha Sonic and potentially killing Mecha Knuckles if not for Sonic regaining his willpower and throwing himself in front of Knuckles at the last minute. Later, Nicole managed to de-robotize Sonic with the help of the magical protection granted to her by the power of her recently acquired billionth ring.

Mecha Sonic was capable of flight and hovering using boosters in his shoes. He had jet boosters, hyper-teleportation, laser blasts, individual wrist lasers, and a drastic increase in strength, and his computer brain gave him digital tracking and allowed him to perform complex mathematical calculations in a matter of seconds.

Mecha Sonic reappeared when Sonic and Tails were roboticized by the Bems to fight Dr. Robotnik and Snively (who had been transformed back into organic beings) in an experiment to determine whether or not organic Mobians were superior to robotic ones. Sonic and Tails won the battle and reverted to normal afterward.

Metallix
The most common robots in the Sonic the Comic continuity are the Metallix series. These are primarily based on Metal Sonic rather than Mecha Sonic, although a model based on Mecha Sonic appeared in the Sky Sanctuary Zone of Sonic the Comic.

Yes, now I introduce you to the evil Mecha Sonic. Some are familiar with the boss from the games Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles. (Others, like me, may have known him from the Super Mario Bros. Z miniseries! Oh my God, what dialogue this enemy had!) For me, "he's one of the best." Read this carefully! I'm not saying I'm looking down on Metal Sonic, but this boss is awesome (that's my opinion). Regardless, enjoy it and wreak havoc in San Andreas with this Mecha Sonic Mark 2.
